The home of the UK's miniature painting community.
So what is Platoon Britannica about? Platoon Britannica was formed by a small group of miniature painters who themselves had found it hard to develop their own painting beyond gaming level to competition standard because the only time the community seemed to meet up and get to see each other's work was behind glass at major competitions. With this in mind the organisation have managed to secure use of Games Workshop's 'Warhammer World' venue at their headquarters in Nottingham for a (hopefully ongoing) series of national painting/modelling events. The organisation is not run by or in any way commercially linked to Games Workshop or any other miniature/modelling/gaming company. Platoon Britannica is not an organisation in the traditional sense as we do not intend to have 'members', rules or any kind of hierarchy. We simply want to facilitate and organise events that will help to grow and develop the miniature painting community within the UK. We have found through personal experience that being able to meet with like-minded hobbyists and share ideas face-to-face is by far the best way for ideas to develop, and skills to be advanced and shared. With this in mind, we hope to encourage painters to try and find others in their local area who have similar interests and form their own informal local painting/modelling group who can meet regularly in their local area. In turn we then want to encourage these groups, and individual painters, to attend quarterly events to be held at Warhammer World in Nottingham where the whole national painting community can meet in a friendly and non-competitive environment to show off their work, discuss painting and modelling techniques and learn from others in a way that simply isn't possibly via online forums or at competitions. So whats next? The first event will be held in July at Warhammer World details of which are on the Events page. So why not join us and lets raise the painting level in the United Kingdom. Hope to see you in July! |
